How
From my ears to my eyes:
I did a fair amount of drawing when I was young and particularly liked doing cartoons. I was always a fan of James Thurber among others.
After about age twenty-five I got busy with my business and other interests. So I didn’t do much drawing for over 40 years. In 2016 my Mom passed away at the age of 91. My younger sister, Franny, found some drawings that I had done years ago that my Mom had saved. One was a cartoon based on the song Willow Weep for Me. That gave me the idea to take this up as a hobby as I head for retirement.
I now sit and listen to songs while doodling. When an image appeals to me (it could be something in the lyric or maybe an album cover) I try to adapt it into a cartoon.
(I do all my drawings on an 8-1/2X11 sketch pad with pencil and Pigma Micron markers). An eraser is also used quite often.
**I have been showing these drawings to friend who said “you must be having a blast doing this.” He is right.
